Pitru Paksha Shradha
Pitru Paksha, also known as Mahalaya Paksha, is a sacred period of 15 lunar days during which our ancestors (Pitrus) are believed to visit the earth. The eldest son performs the Shradh rituals, while other family members participate, and Danam is offered to Brahmins.

Tarpana / Hiranya Shradha
Tarpanam or Hiranya Shradham is a sacred ancestral ritual in which offerings of black til are made, followed by Swayampaka Danam including rice, dal, raw banana, vegetables, and similar items, which are offered to Brahmins.
